R&R – a new, flexible and comprehensive approach to respite care
R&R by GHA reimagines respite, providing a new way for people living with dementia and their Support Partners to pause, reset, and discover skills and tools to stay at home as long as possible.
The reasons for R&R might vary, but it can provide an opportunity for those living with dementia to engage socially and find purpose and meaning. For Support Partners, it offers the chance to set aside time to rest, revitalise and look after their own wellbeing. R&R includes a personalised, brief stay in one of our homes, along with tools and resources to help you and your loved one to stay at home longer and live well with dementia.
As an R&R Guest, you’ll also have access to GHA’s Demystifying Dementia half-day educational sessions for families and Support Partners, to further equip you for a smoother transition to home following an R&R stay.

R&R Eligibility Assessment
To assess eligibility and allow us to determine the best GHA home and type of stay, an in-person assessment is required prior to any R&R stay at a cost of $375. This initial assessment with the Social Workers and Registered Nurse from our Group Homes Australia team happens within a Resident’s own home where possible. The purpose of the assessment is to build a relationship, learn about the Resident and their family’s life and what makes them unique, as well as gather an understanding of their care needs. The information from the assessment informs our Homemakers to be able to welcome the new resident and their family to their new home. Connecting residents within the home so they can benefit from the social and positive engagement with one another will depend on who you are as an individual.
