Perfect for short stays, holiday or conference cover, when your support person is away, or for transitioning from hospital to home, GHA’s Flexible Respite ‘Flex Stay’ offers unmatched flexibility and availability with no waitlists. Unlike other providers’ Cottage Respite services, we adapt entirely to your needs. Take a pause, reset, and enjoy a few days away from home with us.
We are Sydney based and have homes in the Eastern Suburbs, Hunters Hill, Hornsby Shire, North Shore, Northern Beaches, Hills District, Inner West and Sutherland Shire communities, specialising in dementia care.
Flexible Respite – Flex Stay
Our flexible Flex Stay provides 24/7 supervision and care, in one of our 23 homes across Sydney. With a 1:4 ratio including Homemakers, Registered Nurses and Social Workers during the day, plus overnight supervision, we provide comprehensive support and education for families with flexible stay durations. Whether you need overnight dementia respite care, a break for a day, or up to eight weeks, our services include all meals and activities and are designed to accommodate your needs and schedule.
Flexible Respite – Permanent Trial option: For families who might be considering a longer-term stay or move-in option, we also offer Permanent Trial, a 21-day respite stay including 24/7 supervision and care, all meals and activities, plus family meetings with observations and guidance for next steps toward moving in. Permanent Trial is aimed at helping you to make sure the home is the right fit for you and your family.

Free Demystifying Dementia Education Session
All Flexible Respite stays include a free Demystifying Dementia Education Session for your friends and family, held every month in our Crows Nest office. These are a great way to learn how to support someone you love who is living with dementia. The sessions can be made available online, and they also offer other benefits in understanding the importance of respite care.
Funding your Flexible Respite
You can fund your Flexible Respite with us in three ways:
- HCP Unspent funds – as we are a Home Care Provider, you can use your Unspent Funds to pay for some or all of your respite.
- NDIS Short Term Accommodation.
- Private Pay – you can pay privately.
How many Flexible Respites can I do?
As many as you like! We are not a residential aged care provider, hence you can have as many days of Flexible Respites as you or your family need.
Flexible Respite Eligibility Assessment
To assess eligibility and allow us to determine the best GHA home and type of stay, an in-person assessment is required prior to any Flexible Respite stay. This initial assessment may happen in person at the resident’s home or online. The purpose of the assessment is to build a relationship, learn about the resident and their family’s life and what makes them unique, as well as gather an understanding of their care needs. The information from the assessment informs our Homemakers to be able to welcome the new resident and their family to their new home. Connecting residents within the home so they can benefit from the social and positive engagement with one another will depend on who you are as an individual.
