At Group Homes Australia, we believe that family involvement and social connections are vital components of our residents’ overall health and well-being. As such, we have always welcomed visits from family members and friends. We also recognise that our residents’ safety must remain a top priority and we are guided by NSW Health to maintain this safe environment.
With this in mind, our visitor policy ensures that our residents continue to enjoy meaningful visits with their loved ones while minimising the risk of exposure to potential health hazards. We have put in place protocols that balance the need for social connection with safety measures to protect our residents and staff. We believe that these measures will allow us to continue providing the best care possible for our residents while also maintaining their quality of life.
The information below outlines the current position for visits with your loved ones unless the home is in lockdown due to a positive case of Covid-19 in the home.
NSW Health guidelines update in March 2023 continues to strongly recommend mask-wearing for both team members and visitors when indoors. We encourage the visits to be outdoors or in the resident’s room and ask that visitors socially distance from Homemakers and other visitors.
- Masks and hand sanitiser will be available in the homes
- Masks are required when visiting indoors – including for children
- Masks are not required when visiting outdoors
- Masks can be removed if communication with a resident is hindered by the mask
- There is no restriction on the number of visitors
Please do not visit if:
1. You are experiencing any of the following symptoms (or have so in the last 7 days):
- Flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat runny nose and fatigue.
- Fever
- Shortness of breath
2. You have been in close contact with someone who is unwell and experiencing the symptoms listed above,
3. You have been in close contact with someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19.
If you have any questions or concerns about our visitor policy, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team.
Thanks for your understanding and support.
