The Dementia Guide: For people living with dementia, their families and carers.

Sep 22, 2021

Dementia Australia supports people living with all types of dementia, and their families and carers. They provide support services, education and information, and advocate for greater community understanding of dementia.

They help people:

  • access appropriate care and support
  • maintain the best possible quality of life
  • plan for their future.

Dementia is not one single disease. It is the term used to describe the symptoms of a large group of illnesses which cause a progressive decline in a person’s functioning. It is not a normal part of ageing. Everyone experiences dementia differently. Your symptoms will depend on the cause of dementia and the parts of the brain affected.
